About the role:
This is a 12-week paid internship opportunity with Eric Lyons, as part of the Made Smarter collaboration with the WMG Internship Programme.
We are seeking a driven and analytical intern to help formalise operational processes and develop data-driven tools to support smarter decision-making across the business. This role will work closely with kitchen and butchery teams, as well as the wider production and logistics functions, to establish clear SOPs and create business intelligence dashboards that improve planning, efficiency, and responsiveness.
As part of the programme, you will benefit from weekly supervision and support by a Made Smarter expert, ensuring you have guidance and resources throughout your internship.
Through this Internship you will have the chance to:
- Gain hands-on skills in business administration and data management.
- Enhance organisational, data analysis, and project coordination skills.

Duties and responsibilities
Main activities will include:
- Assess and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key areas including kitchen operations and butcher production for ready-to-cook product lines.
- Review and map the end-to-end order flow process, from customer orders through raw material planning, chef preparation, packing, and dispatch.
- Propose technology or process improvement recommendations to improve mapped processes
- Develop data dashboards that provide real-time visibility of operational metrics, order patterns, and resource planning needs.
- Identify gaps in current data collection and recommend improvements to support future planning and business insights.
- Incorporate seasonal and external data (e.g., weather trends, holidays) to enhance forecasting and support better demand planning (e.g., for Easter or barbecue season).
- Present findings and dashboard prototypes to management with a focus on usability and long-term value.
Skills and experience
- Degree in engineering, business management or related field.
- Interest in business operations, data analysis, or supply chain management.
- Familiarity with data tools such as Excel, Power BI, Google Looker Studio, or similar platforms.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Comfortable collaborating with production teams and documenting processes clearly.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a proactive approach to learning.
