Role
We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Note Taker to join our team to assist students who are deaf or suffer with hearing loss. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately capturing and documenting key information during meetings, lectures, or seminars. which is then passed to the student. This role is essential in ensuring that all participants have access to clear and concise notes that can be used for their studies and future reference. A strong ability to educate others through well-structured notes is highly valued.
Duties and responsibilities
- Attend meetings, lectures, or seminars and take comprehensive notes.
- Type a verbatim account of what is being said so the information appears on screen in real time for users to read.
- Summarise key points, decisions, and action items in a clear and organised manner.
- Ensure notes are accessible and understandable for all participants.
- Collaborate with team members to clarify any ambiguities in the notes taken.
- Assisting students in a university setting who are deaf or have hearing loss to access information provided by staff in relation to their area of study.
Skills and experience
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to focus on details.
- Strong written communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and conciseness.
- Proficiency in using note-taking tools or software for STTR.
- Ability to educate others through well-organised documentation.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and improving note-taking techniques.
Must have one of the following;
. Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP) Level 3 Certificate for Language Service Providers working with Deaf and Deafblind People (Notetaking)
2. The National Registers of Communication Professionals Working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) Registered Notetaker
3. Signature NVQ 2 electronic notetaking
4. CACDP Level 3 Certificate in Facilitating Communication with Deaf People (Lipspeaking Skills) and (Notetaking Skills). Qualification Ref: 500/1613/1 Note: If printing A3 paper is required. 4 OFFICIAL OFFICIAL
5. Open College Network London (OCN) Level 3 Certificate in Electronic Notetaking to Support Deaf and Disabled People.
