Role

Working as a member of a small team the Active Life Advisors contribute to the delivery of the Sport & Active Life service within the Sports Centre and associated facilities.

Specifically, to provide instruction, support, advice, and encouragement to customers using the gym within the Sports Centre to help them maximise the effectiveness of their fitness activities. Carry out inductions, design fitness programmes, answer enquiries and generate reports on gym usage. Monitor, manage, clean and where appropriate, maintain the fitness equipment within the gym.

Hours and days: As required as per the requirements of the Sports Centre

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group inductions, provide fitness advice to customers and in consultation with customers, provide personal training programmes for them.
  • Welcome members to the gym, control access, provide information and complete general gym administrative tasks.
  • Implement successfully on a day-to-day basis the operational Health & Safety regime established within the facilities, including pool responder duties. On a day-to-day basis, clean designated activity areas and equipment to a required standard.
  • Maintain effective supervision to ensure high levels of health and safety.

Skills and experience

  • Recognised certified fitness qualification equivalent to REPS level 2*
  • Experience of working within a customer service environment
  • IT literate across the range of MS Office programmes
  • Current University of Leicester

*We will be unable to accept applicants who do not have a current Level 2 gym/fitness qualification
