Role
The DN Research Administrator will work alongside the DN Officer, DN Manager and Profs Francesco Muntoni and Giovanni Baranello’s teams to provide them with Research Administration and Finance support. The Developmental Neuroscience Research and Teaching Department (DN) is one of the five GOS ICH Research and Teaching Departments.
The DN Research Administrator will work closely with GOS ICH operational teams, particularly HR and Finance.
The DN Research Administrator will work collaboratively with the DN Officer and DN Manager supporting the team in times of need, covering for other postholders when absent.
Duties and responsibilities
Main purpose of the job
The DN Research Administrator will work alongside the DN Officer, DN Manager and Profs Francesco Muntoni and Giovanni Baranello’s teams to provide them with Research Administration and Finance support. The Developmental Neuroscience Research and Teaching Department (DN), is one of the five GOS ICH Research and Teaching Departments.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Undertake activities requested by Profs Francesco Muntoni and Giovanni Baranello, their teams and clinical trial coordinators to ensure that all their projects and staff contracts are managed effectively and in a timely manner.
- Provide support to the DN Research and Teaching Department by carrying out a range of key tasks as allocated by the Departmental Manager.
Human Resources:
- Monitor the End of Contract Process and ensure adherence to UCL HR Procedures.
- Carry out relevant tasks related to HonoraryContract, Associate and Visitor administrative duties as required, in line with GOS ICH honorary staff policy.
- Provide support to line managers through the recruitment and probation processes.
Research Administration and Finance support
- Support Profs Francesco Muntoni and Giovanni Baranello’s in providing financial reporting on research portfolios, carrying out research administration process activities as directed, including costing support, pre- and post- award administration, and liaison with key stakeholders.
- Monitor research grants closure and act on reconciliation of costs.
- Run relevant reports in Axiom.
- Attend to any accounts related queries (e.g. outstanding invoices, raising purchase orders and sales invoices) when required.
- Support the DN Manager in their regular reporting and communications with GOS ICH Finance and HR.Education.
- Carry out any relevant education activities as directed by the DN Research and Teaching Department Head and Deputy Head and/or the DN Manager, including (but not limited to) liaison with GOS ICH research degrees office for Departmental PhD administrative activities, collation of information for reports and returns, creating databases, and keeping accurate records.
IT and Communications
- Disseminate information on policies and procedures to Profs Francesco Muntoni and Giovanni Baranello’ teams as required.
- Acting as moderator for the DN Research and Teaching Department shared mailboxes, distribution lists, databases, and shared drives.
- Liaising with ISD for SLMS to support the Department.
- Attend regular meetings with Profs Francesco Muntoni and Giovanni Baranello’ teams as required to update on project balances and actions required.
Other Duties
- Assist Profs Francesco Muntoni and Giovanni Baranello in the delivery of best practice and play a role in process improvement activities, liaising with other ICH departments.
- Provide committee servicing support where required.
- In addition to the main duties outlined above the postholder will be required to carry out any additional duties as may reasonably be required within the scope and level of the post. (e.g. Raise tickets with relevant departments; order stationery and book couriers, etc.).
Skills and experience
- It is essential that the successful candidate has strong organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously.
- The succesful candidate also must have excellent numerical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to extrapolate information using the internet and databases, as well as comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is also an essential criterion for this role.
- Ideally, the successful candidate would have previous experience monitoring projects and budget expenditure.

UCL; hybrid working with 2 days per week from the office
