Description
Role
We are looking for a motivated student or recent graduate to support the development of a chatbot to be integrated into an existing system for a wealth management company targeting new investors. This is a short-term, project-based opportunity ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience in AI-driven application development.
As part of the Advanced & Digital Technologies Innovation Accelerator (ADTIA) programme, the University of Staffordshire has entered into a partnership with an innovative and growing Newcastle-under-Lyme based company called IronMarket Ltd.
Duties and responsibilities
Work will include:-
- Market research to be undertaken
- Research other existing designs of similar technologies within the industry
- Produce a feasibility study/report and costings analysis
- Present a roadmap to adopt the technology within the business
- Implement and test.
Skills and experience
- Solid understanding of programming fundamentals (preferably in Python or a similar language)
- Quick learner with the ability to pick up new tools and technologies
- Interest in researching, designing, developing, and testing software solutions
- Some experience or coursework in chatbot development
- Familiarity with AI technologies, including Large Language Models, conversational interfaces, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative project team
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to technologies such as REST APIs, LangChain, Tavily Search API, or similar tools is desirable
- Experience working with structured/unstructured data to build or fine-tune the bot.
- Understanding of evaluation metrics for conversational systems (e.g., response relevance, fallback handling).
