Role

We are recruiting for an Innovation Consultant to work with a local business to deliver an innovation project. You'll be working with an innovative and growing Newcastle-under-Lyme-based company called Global Air Projects Ltd. They design, develop and install air quality management systems which are based on air movement, cleanliness, energy saving and temperature control along with the effective use of environment extract and L.E.V equipment.

The successful applicant will explore the use of technology to automate data collection and reporting for engineer site checks, as well as implement a customer portal for accessing relevant information and documentation. This initiative aims to reduce errors, enhance accuracy, save time, and streamline workflows. It will also improve data security, simplify data retrieval, and ultimately boost internal efficiency while delivering a more robust and user-friendly experience for customers.

Duties and responsibilities

Work will include:

  • Business process review and evaluation
  • Research off the shelf products or tech to offer a potential solutions.
  • Review how the business systems and process compare to competitors.
  • Produce a feasibility study / report and costings analysis
  • Present a roadmap to adopt the technology within the business
  • Implement and test.

Skills and experience

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with web application development (e.g., PHP, Python, JavaScript, or similar).
  • Knowledge of database design and management (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Understanding of API integration for data exchange between systems.
  • Experience with UI/UX design principles for building user-friendly portals.
  • Proficiency in data handling, validation, and automation processes.
  • Ability to work with data security best practices (e.g., encryption, secure authentication).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage projects and deliver solutions within agreed timelines.

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of reporting and dashboard tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Understanding of environmental monitoring systems or industrial control systems.
  • Experience with mobile app development for on-site engineer use.
  • Knowledge of document management systems and version control.
  • Experience in process optimisation and workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
