Role
To work as part of a team in the food and beverage outlets across the Canterbury Campus providing catering and hospitality services. The post of General Assistant will involve working in any of our catering outlets across the Canterbury Campus. The post holder will need to have a flexible approach to meet the expectations of providing a consistent and quality service to students, staff and external visitors. The post holder will be expected to work in any of the Catering outlets to meet the business requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To assist and provide a consistent, professional customer service, quality food and beverage service across the Canterbury Campus Network for students, staff and external clients on a day-to-day basis 
  • To assist in the daily operations in any outlet to provide a professional food and drinks service to our students and guest. 
  • To be aware of the menu boards and any daily menus and contents to communicate to our customers, in order to be able to assist the customer with advice and guidance where needed. 
  • Preparation and cleaning of all service counters and any areas within the food and beverage outlets and removal of any waste as and when required. 
  • To assist with any other duties as instructed by the duty Team Leaders and Managers.
  • To work to agreed opening and closing procedures and direct task allocations from the team leader on duty. 
  • To be able to operate the point-of-sale system for cards during the shift. 
  • Have an understanding of the Uniware and Upay system to be able to promote the service and assist with customer queries. 
  • To attend and input at team meetings to continue to improve the services offered.

Skills and experience

  • Food Hygiene lvl. 2 preferred
  • Catering experience 
  • Bar experience 
  • Customer service experience
