Role

The Graduate Cloud Engineer will support the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure and services. This entry-level role is designed to provide hands-on experience in cloud technologies, allowing the graduate to build foundational skills in cloud architecture, automation, and DevOps practices. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and cloud architects, the Graduate Cloud Engineer will assist in ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud environments that meet business and technical requirements.

The role serves as a launchpad for a career in cloud engineering, offering opportunities to contribute to real-world projects, adopt industry best practices, and gain exposure to leading cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Working days and hours are Monday - Friday, 36 hours a week. Monday - Thursday, 9am - 5:30pm
Friday - 9am - 4pm

This position is office based (Festival Way, Stoke on Trent) for 5 days a week. There may be some flexibility for remote work after the probation period but this is dependent on each individual role.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and support of cloud infrastructure solutions (primarily Azure and some AWS).
  • Work with senior engineers to develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and ARM templates.
  • Participate in automating cloud infrastructure deployments
  • Monitor cloud systems and assist in performance tuning, cost optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to support cloud-hosted environments.
  • Assist in maintaining system documentation and cloud architecture diagrams.
  • Learn and adopt best practices in cloud security, scalability, and availability.
  • Stay current with cloud trends, technologies, and certifications.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript)
  • Knowledge of Windows system administration.
  • Interest in automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced cloud environment.
  • Willing to go through UK Security Vetting at SC level and above.
