Role
This position will play a key role in the support of the Company’s internal and customer related training requirements.  This will include the capturing of training requirements, the preparation of training material, the delivery of the training and the production of supporting material including User Guides. 

 
The role will require a thorough understanding of the technologies we provide as part of our Managed Services and an ability to deliver the training in a language targeted at the technical and experience level of the trainees.  This job role will be based at the Company’s premises in Stoke-on-Trent and delivered to a variety of geographically dispersed Customer sites.
 
The Technical trainer will work closely with SecureCloud+ Transition Delivery and Service Operations Teams, partners and vendors in order to build the appropriate level of knowledge for each training course. 
 
You will travel to customer locations to deliver training course and refresher session. This is likely to take up to around 25% of your time with overnight stays from time to time. 
 

Working days and hours are Monday - Friday, 36 hours a week. Monday - Thursday, 9am - 5:30pm
Friday - 9am - 4pm

This position is office based (Stoke on Trent) for 5 days a week. There may be some flexibility for remote work after the probation period but this is dependant on each individual role. 

Duties and responsibilities
Client Engagement and Consultation:

  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, technical challenges, and security considerations and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, project management, and engineering teams to translate client requirements into actionable technical solutions.
  • Lead on the creation and delivery of technical workshops, presentations, and demonstrations to showcase proposed solutions and gain buy-in from key stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on technology trends, industry best practices, and emerging threats in the field of secure defence collaboration.

Solution Design and Development:

  • Design end-to-end solutions that address client needs while adhering to industry best practices and security standards.
  • Develop detailed architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans to guide solution delivery.
  • Develop detailed technical proposals and solutions in response to customer RFIs and RFPs.

Technology Evaluation and Selection:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of available technologies, products, and platforms to identify the most suitable solutions for specific client requirements.
  • Evaluate the security posture and compliance of potential technologies, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and client expectations.
  • Provide recommendations and rationale for technology selections, taking into account factors such as scalability, interoperability, and total cost of ownership.

Solution Implementation and Integration:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and third-party vendors to ensure the successful definition of project scope, timeline, and resource allocation.
  • Provide technical oversight and support throughout the implementation lifecycle, addressing any issues or challenges that may arise.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and security developments relevant to defence collaboration and national security.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and enhancement of existing solutions, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual property, thought leadership, and best practices within the organisation.
  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, TOGAF, CCSP, ITILv4) are a plus.
  • Experience as a Solutions Architect or in a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex technology solutions in the defence or security sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Deep understanding of defence collaboration technologies, including secure messaging, file sharing, video conferencing, and information assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of security principles, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks relevant to defence and national security environments
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in solution design and modelling tools, enterprise architecture frameworks, and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization, networking, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering practical and effective solutions to real-world challenges.
