Description

Role
The Student Green Office (SGO) sits within the University's Academy for Sustainable Futures and is a student-led initiative in its 13th year. The SGO's aim is to engage students with sustainability, which may include environmental action, climate change and education, wellbeing and accessibility, social justice and equity, responsible activism, ethical consumption, biodiversity, food and principles of fair trade, carbon footprinting, engagement with the local community and more.

Duties and responsibilities
SGO Project Officers plan and run events and activities for current students including introductory sessions for climate education opportunities. They support University Open days and Offer-holder events to showcase sustainability at CCCU to prospective students and write for our student and staff-facing blog to represent a student voice on climate and sustainability issues that matter to them. They work together as a team with the support of Academy staff, and in collaboration with our Students' Union and others across the University. The SGO are also encouraged to take ownership and leadership of their own ideas and projects, to support causes they feel passionate about, and to develop skills within their SGO roles that will support them in the careers they want to pursue after graduation.

Skills and experience
Successful applicants will demonstrate both in their application covering letter and at interview an informed interest in one or more areas of sustainability (examples might include but are not limited to: climate action, climate change, wellbeing and accessibility, social justice and equity, responsible activism, ethical consumption, biodiversity, sustainable food and fair trade), and will have considered and be able to articulate how their skills and experiences thus far will help them to engage students with climate and sustainability issues. Previous experience in planning or running events, in communicating ideas in writing, or in delivering training or education is very welcome but not essential.

We welcome applications from current and incoming Christ Church students of all demographics who will still be students with us in September, and work hard to be an inclusive and supportive team who recognise and celebrate the diversity of our university community. Working hours and workload are designed with flexibility in mind to allow students to prioritise their health and studies, and work in ways that accommodate their accessibility needs.
