Role
Canterbury Christ Church University has been commissioned to evaluate a longitudinal initiative involving up to 90 school engaging in nature-based learning. Schools are being asked to upload a variety of tracking and feedback information including answers to questions, spreadsheets, evaluations, audio and visual files. 

To capture this information Canterbury Christ Church University is seeking to develop a bespoke online portal. This portal will provide each school with a secure way to upload its data throughout the academic year. The portal needs to include the ability to respond to branching questions and for the research team to import and download information in a recognised from, e.g. csv, xls file. 
Drawing on the specifications developed by the research team you will be required to develop a full-stack portal. 
 
You will be expected to take the lead in ensuring the portal is secure, flexible and user friendly for both children and adults to use. As well as ensuring the portal is back-end accessible by the research team during the remainder of the project. 
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a large-scale research project which could enhance the lives of children by taking the lead in creating a bespoke product.
 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop an online portal housed with the university, which allows a variety of data types to be inputted by multiple users.
  • Ensure the portal is user friendly enabling adults and for some aspects children between 4-9yrs old to input information and upload content. 
  • Build in branching options to some questions. 
  • Enable the portal to prepopulate the answers to some questions. 
  • Ensure the research team can download responses and monitor completion rates. 
  • Ensure that data can be download into a recognised form e.g. csv, xls 
  • Help compile a user guide to be send to schools. 
  • Test the portal with a variety of dummy data.

Skills and experience

  • Entering the final year of a BSc or be a postgraduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar technical degree. 
  • Proven skills in software development, with experience in coding projects (academic or personal). 
  • Ability to translate project specifications into software solutions. 
  • Ability to develop user friendly interfaces for a variety of users. 
  • Ability to work independently and to a deadline. 
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.

Location
Canterbury, although some remote working can be negotiated
