Role

We are seeking a motivated and organised Information Administrator Officer to undertake a pivotal role in collating information to support the wellbeing of serving and veteran members of the armed forces in Northamptonshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, collecting and collating comprehensive information on local services that cater to the unique needs of both currently serving personnel and veterans.  This four-week (74 hours) position will help provide useful information to support VALOUR, a UK Government-funded network which will deliver easier access to care and support through new regional networks connecting housing, employment and health services.

Duties and responsibilities

Research and identify all relevant services and organisations – local and regional – that provide support, advice or assistance to serving and veteran members of the armed forces and their families.

Contact service providers directly to gather detailed and current information about their offerings, eligibility requirements, access processes and referral pathways.

Collate information into a centralised and easily accessible format, such as a digital database.

Ensure that the information collected covers a wide range of support areas, including but not limited to:

Mental health and wellbeing

Physical healthcare

Employment support and training

Financial advice and hardship support

Housing and homelessness prevention

Family and relationship support

Legal advice

Social and recreational opportunities

Bereavement and transition services

Liaise regularly with the West Northamptonshire Council Project and Executive Support Manager and University of Northampton Policy and Public Affairs Officer to update on progress, challenges and key findings.

Collaborate with local councils, NHS services, charities, and community groups to foster strong links and ensure information accuracy.

Contribute to the development of an information-sharing protocol that will remain in use after the end of the temporary contract.

Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations at all times.

Outputs and Deliverables

Comprehensive directory or database of support services, including clear descriptions, contact details, eligibility and referral information.

Summary report outlining key gaps, strengths and opportunities in the existing support landscape for armed forces members in Northamptonshire.

Recommendations for ongoing information sharing and improvement of access to support services.

Skills and experience

Excellent research and information-gathering skills, with the ability to verify and synthesise information from multiple sources.

Strong organisational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

Confident communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective liaison with service providers and stakeholders.

Proficient IT skills, especially in using database or spreadsheet software, and familiarity with digital resource creation.

Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Sensitivity to the needs of serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.

Prior experience working with or supporting the armed forces or veteran community.

Knowledge of the Northamptonshire support landscape or experience in a similar research or directory-building project.

Experience working within local government, the NHS, or voluntary/charity sector.

Awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant and its implications for service provision.

Empathy, discretion and respect for confidentiality.

Proactive, resourceful and solution-oriented mindset.

Collaborative approach with the ability to foster constructive relationships.

Adaptability and resilience in the face of changing priorities.

A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
