Description
Role
Developers will develop and implement technical solutions that are in-line with their department and stakeholders needs. They are part of its technical delivery capability work closely with their Senior Developers, Business Analysts, Scrum Masters and other relevant stakeholders ensuring that solution developed met their needs. They will contribute to technical solution design process led by Senior Developers and Leads from their own and as appropriate other departments or teams.
They will be self-starters capable of taking a product backlog entry and delivering a high-quality solution as part of the portfolio’s offerings. They will work under the direction of Senior Developers and leads, have good communications skills and provide clear explanations of technical decisions to non-technical users.
They will ensure their skills remain current using available training resources both self-directed or classroom delivered as appropriate.
Duties and responsibilities
Solution Development: Develop solutions which deliver technology enabled capabilities, working collaboratively and in accordance with relevant working practices and technologies which support department and university strategy.
- Work in-line with Agile and Product methodologies, including relevant ceremonies such as Sprint planning, refinement, retrospective and others.
- Work collaboratively to solve complex challenges and deliver high quality solutions that meet business requirements
- Produce clear and accurate documentation
- Ensure data is managed and processed in-line with regulatory obligation and industry best practise
- When developing solutions follow relevant information security and data management policies ensuring, least privilege and information assurance.
- Applying expertise and experience to implement, and maintain solutions using the technologies and platforms appropriate for the business need, these can includes the following and others:-
- Java, Scala and other relevant open-source frameworks
- SITS eVision, power Client, SRL, SQL and other related tribal technologies
-Moodle, PHP, Linux scripting and other related technologies
-SAP Success Factors, SAP Payroll,
-MS Dynamics, Power platform, .Net, SQL and other related technologies
-Azure Integration services, SQL and other related technologies
Solution Monitoring & Support: Manage and support deployed production solutions ensuring an excellent customer experience with availability and performance is in-line with appropriate SLAs
- Monitor system performance, application health, and infrastructure issues, and as necessary implement solutions.
- Respond to escalated incidents with professionalism, timeliness and in accordance with departmental processes
- Contribute with other team members to develop business continuity plans and maintain them during the solutions lifecycle
Continuous Improvement: Using data and customer feedback to identify opportunities to improve the service and ensure their skills in relevant areas remain current
- Remain up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to the delivery of solutions
- Work with the colleagues to Identify repeating or common issues, proposing, and implementing solutions to root cause fixes.
- Recommend Change Requests and prepare change documentation, participate in departmental Change forums
Skills and experience
Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Proficient in developing and implementing solutions based on relevant technologies, a non-exhaustive list is given below:
- Client-side Javascript , PHP, and other relevant open-source frameworks.
- SQL and other related tribal technologies.
- Power platform, .Net, SQL and other related technologies
- HTML , CSS and associated frameworks such as Bootstrap , Angular and React.
- Web Based Content Management Systems
- An understanding of algorithms, data and relevant solution design patterns.
- An understanding of application turning covering relevant technologies.
- Understanding of continuous improvement of solutions using data and customer feedback to identify relevant areas.
- Knowledge of relevant data processing regulations and best practices when processing PII.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail when undertaking work and working to defined operating procedures.
- ITIL Foundation or Equivalent
- Relevant certifications (team specific)
- Previous experience in a development role supporting similar business function.
- Familiarity with agile working practices.
