Role

  • Please note that this is a FULL-TIME role and is NOT suitable for current students
  • Interviews to be held w/c 18th/19th August
  • Hybrid role

     

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the community volunteering brokerage website (https://volunteering.city.ac.uk) for City St George’s students and staff, ensuring a range of opportunities are available that match the variety of the sector and range of professional interests of our students
  • Deliver one-to-one appointments with students, supporting them through various points of their volunteering journey.
  • Support the Senior Community Volunteering Officer in sourcing partnerships that support service learning / community-engaged learning
  • Organise and / or promote one-off events that introduce students to volunteering
  • Organise and/or promote volunteering fairs, giving students’ the opportunity to meet organisations and discuss the volunteering roles available.
  • Undertake administration and operational duties related to the role. 
  • Support the administration function of the Careers & Employability department generally and undertake other activities as maybe required by the Student Development Manager.
  • Proactively seek new volunteering opportunities and partnerships within Islington and wider London to reflect the population of Commuter students at City St George’s.
  • Work with the Senior Community Volunteering Officer to plan marketing and communications through the year.
  • Promote volunteering to students, making use of the most effective communication channels
  • Build the profile of the volunteering service within Academic Schools
  • Prepare marketing materials, newsletters, handouts etc. in a variety of formats
  • Responsible for running and producing content for the City St George’s Volunteering social media channels, as well as writing articles focussed on volunteering for the website
  • Respond promptly to queries from students, staff and organisations.
  • Ensure all data held is accurate and managed in accordance with Data Protection legislation.

Skills and experience

  • Experience in relationship management.
  • Experience in planning and running events for large numbers of people.
  • Ability to self-motivate and seek opportunities to improve service provision.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written, to large and small audiences) and negotiation skills, together with a sensitivity to the needs of others.
  • Good administrative skills and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to manage a number of different tasks simultaneously to a high standard of accuracy and often within strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team or alone with minimal supervision.
