  • Will operate with minimal supervision in the day-to-day planning, organising and performance (to an agreed quality standard and specification) of a range of activities related to management and collection of student debt. They are expected to demonstrate a high level of initiative in prioritising their workload, effectively managing competing demands, and making informed, timely decisions. This includes assessing available options and determining the most appropriate course of action to meet deadlines and address issues promptly.
  • Must be a confident and effective communicator, as the role requires regular interaction with a range of stakeholders, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, University colleagues, external collection agents, solicitors, and other third parties. Where questions or problems fall outside their remit, the post holder will use their judgement to determine whether referral is necessary. Most issues will be resolved by drawing on prior experience or by consulting relevant departmental policies and procedures. As such, a comprehensive understanding of the methods, systems, and processes used across the entire Student Finance function is essential. While the role is governed by standard procedures and regulations, the post holder is expected to exercise discretion in adjusting the order or application of processes where circumstances require. In cases involving particularly unusual or complex challenges, the post holder is expected to investigate and recommend suitable courses of action to the Team Leader, escalating only the most intricate issues for final resolution.
