Role
We are looking for research assistants to assist in sleep and circadian research (by carrying out data collection, analyses or research-related activities) to create knowledge through providing research support for projects and research groups. This role would be based at the University of Birmingham and shift times will be based around the research.

Duties and responsibilities
We are looking for someone who is happy to contribute to publications and scientific research.

Duties will include
  • Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews
  • Analyse research data as directed· Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
  • Develop or adapt techniques, models and methods
  • Provide guidance as required to support staff and any students who may be assisting with research
  • Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
  • Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research or wider sleep network

Skills and experience

  • The ability to report to the UOB in person and for shifts at a variety of times is essential due to the nature of the role.
  • Degree or equivalent in relevant subject area (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience)
  • Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques, with specific abilities relating to the collection of sleep and circadian outcomes
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively
  • Ability to access and organise resources successfully
  • Experience working with human participants in the context of research
