The Resources Support Assistant will work individually or as part of a small team as necessary, to remove books from the shelves at Law Library, pack the books into boxes, move and stack them safely in wheeled cages, ready for collection and moving to Kimberlin Library. Staff may also be needed at Kimberlin for packing boxes into wheeled cages, moving them to the correct location, then unpacking the boxes and shelving the books in the correct order. Another part of the project is to disassemble large desks and metal shelving, which will be moved from one building on the Leicester campus to another for reassembly in a new location.
Shifts will usually consist of working 4-5 hours per day, with a short break, up to a maximum of 5 days per week but staff may not be needed every day/week. We are happy to negotiate the duration of shifts and number of days worked, but are looking for a minimum commitment of 8 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week. The project will be completed in early September 2025.

The job is very manual and will involve moving heavy books, packing boxes, pushing trolleys, and standing on a step stool to reach/retrieve items from top shelves, etc. It is quite strenuous work and will involve contact with books and shelves which can be dusty but PPE will be supplied if required. Health and safety training will be given, to ensure safe manual handling practices, which must be adhered to at all times to ensure the safety of staff and students.
