*Ringfenced to LJMU students and recent graduates only*

Join the University's ambitious sustainability initiative within the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science! This vital role supports our commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of our laboratory operations. You’ll be instrumental in advancing the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) – a national accreditation program driving sustainable resource use in science – across key research hubs in the Life Sciences Building (LSB) and selected teaching laboratories.

Working directly with Sustainability Leads Peter Shum and Sarah Rowlands, you’ll help transform lab practices. Your core mission is to develop clear, actionable pathways for labs to achieve Bronze and Silver LEAF certification. This involves practical, on-the-ground work: conducting detailed chemical inventories, auditing the efficiency and usage of fridge/freezers and identifying opportunities for waste reduction and energy savings. This is a unique opportunity to contribute tangibly to our institutional green goals while gaining hands-on experience in scientific sustainability.
