Role
Multi-Sport Activator - Summer Programme
Join us at LJMU as a Multi-Sport Activator, a dynamic new role assisting in the facilitation of our Summer Sport Programme in partnership with Liverpool School Sports Partnership (LSSP).
This exciting opportunity is perfect for individuals who are passionate about coaching and delivering sport to young people and creating an active community. Our Summer Sport programme is designed to offer a fun, social, and welcoming environment where young people of all abilities feel encouraged to get involved in a wide range of activities and sports.
As a Multi-Sport Activator, you will play a key role in shaping this experience—helping to organise, facilitate and lead activities that encourage young people to get involved, try new sports and have an overall fun time. You’ll be working hands on with young people, ensuring every session is enjoyable, inclusive, and supportive for all who attend.
If you're enthusiastic, approachable, and ready to help our local young people have a fantastic summer, we’d love to hear from you.
Duties and responsibilities
RESPONSIBLE TO: Duty Officer
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Multi-Sport Activator, you will:
- Support the Duty Officer and LSSP in coordinating and delivering participation activities.
- Act as the face of the Summer Programme —greet attendees, make them feel welcome, and help set a positive tone for each day.
- Create a friendly, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere that encourages participation from all young people attending the Summer Programme.
- Communicate regularly with the Physical Wellbeing and Engagement Manager to ensure smooth running of activities and flag any issues or feedback.
Skills and experience
What we're looking for, for you to thrive in this role:
- Possession of an Activator or equivalent qualification (other sport coaching qualifications included)
- DBS check (may be able to be obtained post hiring)
- A genuine enthusiasm for physical activity and encouraging others to get involved.
- Confidence in leading or organising small groups.
- The ability to represent LJMU professionally by meeting, greeting, and welcoming participants to each session, ensuring everyone feels included and supported.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills—you’ll be approachable and able to build rapport quickly.
- The ability to motivate and inspire others to try something new.
- A team player mindset, ready to collaborate and support LSSP and other Multi-Sport Activators.
- An understanding of (or willingness to learn about) basic health and safety practices relevant to activity sessions.
At LJMU, we’re passionate about creating an active, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone. Every team member plays a vital role in helping our community feel connected, supported, and engaged.
