Role
The Financial Guidance Team, based in Student Services at the University of Northampton are looking a new Student Money Mentor. If you have a passion for managing your money, creating exciting content on social media and supporting your fellow students with their money concerns – this role is for you! 

 
You will be responsible for developing students’ budgeting & money management skills as well as raising awareness of financial support available from the university. This will include the creation of engaging content, particularly on social media that appeals to the student body audience. You will also work with the Financial Guidance Team to provide support and guidance to students who may need individual help. Your role will be to help enhance the level of support offered to students to ensure an excellent student experience at the University of Northampton.

Duties and responsibilities

Become familiar with the range of support options available to students, and signpost students to these as appropriate.

Support campaigns and events alongside the Financial Guidance Team to promote key messages about Student Finance, budgeting, and generally raise awareness of the support available. 

Create appropriate content for a variety of media and platforms to help promote positive financial wellbeing, support available and improve financial literacy.

Undertake appropriate training and development for the role to ensure consistent and well-informed practice.

Record contact with students, interventions, and referrals to other University support provision.

Skills and experience

ESSENTIAL 

Currently studying at the University of Northampton. 

Awareness of financial issues affecting students in Higher Education.

 Good knowledge of University of Northampton support systems. interest in money and budgeting. 

Able to work as part of a team and on one’s own initiative.

Excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach.

DESIRABLE

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the organisation.

Experience using social media to create engaging content whilst promoting key messages.

Experience of supporting others to achieve their goals.

Demonstrable accurate record keeping.

Waterside campus, University of Northampton

Additional information
This role will involve up to 6 hours a week during term times.
