To contribute to the overall success of the HR agenda in delivering a proactive and customer focused HR service across our business. The role involves providing effective support, guidance and advice to managers and employees on a wide variety of HR matters, such as employee relations, policy and process, recruitment and the delivery of key projects. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide high quality advice and guidance to managers to facilitate the early resolution of difficult, complex or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring that the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed. 
  • Advise managers on the application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures in accordance with current and proposed employment legislation and local arrangements, to ensure consistency, accuracy and best practice. 
  • Support the management of complex employee relations cases relating to disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence. This includes providing advice to managers on policy and procedure, and legislation, liaising with Occupational Health and supporting formal investigations and hearings. 
  • Manage sickness absence in collaboration with managers, assisting staff back to work and supporting managers in reducing sickness absence across the organisation. 

Skills and experience

  • Ideally practical experience but will also consider strong theoretical knowledge of the HR function and duties of a HR Advisor role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK employment law and best practices.
  • Demonstratable experience or strong theoretical knowledge of managing a variety of employee relations cases.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisation skills.
  • Strong investigation and problem-solving skills, with a balanced and objective approach

Additional information

All applicants must as a minimum achieve baseline personnel security standard. Many roles also require higher levels of security vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting required for the role to allow for meaningful security vetting.

The rate of pay for this role is negotiable for more experienced candidates.
