Leisure Assistant

  • Ad-Hoc role- no guaranteed shifts
  • Our operating hours are Monday through to Sunday. Mon - Fri 6:30am - 10:30pm and Sat - Sun 9:30am - 5:30pm
  • Interviews to be held around 26th / 27th June
  • This role is suitable for a current student
  • This role is suitable for recent graduates
 
Job Purpose:
  • To provide an efficient customer experience across reception and recreation operations. 
  • The post holder must maintain high standards of personal presentation and to deliver good professional customer care with specific responsibilities for the efficient operation of front of house systems and user communication. 
  • The post holder will assist in the safe set up and organisation/delivery of sports activities and events. 
  • They will be responsible for preparing activity areas, ensuring competent set ups, careful dismantling of equipment, and checking that all apparatus is stored safely and securely when not in use. 
  • The ability to manually lift heavy equipment is vital. 
  • Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and playing areas are also a high priority. 
  • Health & Safety training will be provided. 
  • This is a highly critical customer care role, working with a customer base in an environment where constant face to face interactions form a large part of the job content.

Duties and responsibilities
Main Responsibilities

Customer Service
  • To greet customers and visitors and process all general enquiries
  • Provide CitySport programme advice either by phone, or in person
  • To address issues in a courteous manner; delivering a professional customer service at all times and escalate any problems to supervisors
  • To facilitate and control customers’ entry to CitySport and ensure the validity of all entrants
  • To assist with the coordination of any large-scale events, open days and sport matches
 
Bookings/Finance
  • Input data, take money transactions, issue receipts, and make bookings following clear instructions issued for the electronic point of sale system
  • Escalate refunds and income enquiries to assigned Duty Manager
  • Cashing up and till reconciliation
  • To carry out administrative duties such as data entry, filing, photocopying and replenishing all marketing materials as instructed
  • To undertake all bookings and process payments utilizing the leisure management software system
  • Contribute to a detailed handover for all FOH staff to assist in smooth cross communication
  • Adhere to University guidelines regarding Contractor Management within CitySport 
  • Stock take as directed by the Leisure Supervisor
  • Update public notice boards within CitySport reception areas.
  • Ensure all marketing materials & retail displays are stocked up
  • Facilitate and receive deliveries for CitySport
 
Recreation
  • To be able time manage effectively
  • To have a good standard of physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment
  • Share information and work effectively with team members to establish and support a positive working relationship and team environment
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to a high standard of customer service
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • To be have a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • To support activity and event delivery
  • To have a passion for sport and wellbeing

Skills and experience

Experience

  • Experience of working within a busy customer focused environment
  • Previous experience of working with a computerized reservation systems
  • Experience of working within a busy customer focused environment

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills and good telephone manner
  • To have the ability to work alone but also integrate well as part of a wider team
  • To have the ability to lift heavy equipment to complete set ups/set down in sports hall.
 
Additional Information
  • Part of the role is lifting heavy equipment to complete set ups/pack downs in the sports hall
