Description

Role
We are seeking a passionate and organised Education and Volunteering Officer to lead the development and delivery of inspiring educational programmes and to support and grow our dedicated volunteer community. This role is essential in promoting lifelong learning, community engagement, and participation in our mission and values. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a variety of learning experiences for schools, community groups, and the general public, as well as recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers to enhance the impact of our work.

Duties and responsibilities
Education

 
  • Develop, plan, and deliver engaging educational sessions and resources for a range of audiences including schools, families, and adults.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, colleges, and educational stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of education programmes and adjust accordingly to meet learning objectives.
  • Ensure all activities meet current safeguarding, accessibility, and health & safety standards.

Volunteering

  • Recruit, onboard, and train new volunteers in line with organisational needs and policies.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and roles to support daily operations and special events.
  • Provide ongoing support, recognition, and development opportunities for volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and contribute to impact reporting and evaluation.

General

  • Represent the organisation at public events, meetings, and partnership forums.
  • Contribute to funding applications, reports, and the development of new initiatives.
  • Work closely with other teams to integrate education and volunteering into wider organisational goals.

Skills and experience
Essential

 
  • Experience in developing and delivering educational or public engagement programmes.
  • Experience managing or coordinating volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding best practices.

Desirable

  • A relevant qualification in education, community engagement, or volunteer management.
  • Experience working with CRM or volunteer management systems.
