Description

Role

We are seeking an experienced, well-organised, and highly motivated individual to join the GPNET-0 Study team at Warwick Medical School in the role of Strategic Engagement Lead. This position forms a critical part of a study exploring decarbonisation actions in general practice, aiming to inform strategic, system-level transformation across the NHS in alignment with its Net Zero agenda and targets.

The role is ideally suited to someone with in-depth NHS operational knowledge and a strong track record in programme coordination and management, and stakeholder engagement.

You will work at the interface of research, health system transformation, policy, ensuring that the study’s outputs are strategically aligned with NHS operational and strategic priorities, and actionable at a system level.

Duties and responsibilities

You will work as part of a team based at Warwick Medical School led by Dr Raquel Nunes and Professor Jeremy Dale.

You will be responsible for the coordination, logistics, and delivery of a virtual stakeholder consensus workshop, including the recruitment of participants, scheduling, event communications, and post-event coordination. A key aspect of the role involves overseeing the collation and synthesis of prioritised recommendations emerging from the workshop, with the objective of producing a concise consensus report suitable for engagement with NHS and government policy stakeholders.

You will manage ongoing engagement with key NHS stakeholders, including sustainability leads, policy officers, and representatives from ICBs, ensuring the study findings are communicated effectively and integrated into relevant operational and policy processes.

You will provide strategic oversight to ensure that the outputs of the study reflect the realities of NHS system-level contexts, while also interpreting the organisational and systemic mechanisms that may support or hinder the adoption of decarbonisation actions.

The role also includes the development and implementation of a strategic dissemination plan. This will involve the preparation of a targeted policy summary, the coordination of policy-facing communications, to deliver a high-level summary tailored to the interests of NHS leadership and representatives from the DHSC.

Skills and experience

You will have substantial experience working within the NHS, with a strong understanding of its operational systems, communication structures, and transformation processes. You will have demonstrated expertise in coordinating complex projects and engaging effectively with senior stakeholders in healthcare and policy settings. An ability to synthesise and communicate complex findings clearly to diverse audience, including policymakers, will be essential.

Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills are required, alongside the capacity to work independently, balance competing demands. You will have excellent oral and written communication and organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

Candidates with existing networks in NHS sustainability, transformation, or policy domains, and experience in leading policy-facing dissemination within healthcare settings will be at an advantage.

You will need to describe the extent of your availability across the duration of the study, and your intended approach to prioritising the needs of the study.
