Role

Unitemps are recruiting for four Social Assistants. This role is suitable for UCL Students Only. This role is for a August 4th start date and has a projected end date of September 9th 2025. This is a part time role for 8 hours per week. Payment is set at £16.53 per hour + holiday pay. This role will be fully campus based.

 
Centre for Languages and International Education (CLIE) runs short courses in August for international undergraduate students. Part or these courses involves visits to places of interest around London. The Social Assistants' job will be to accompany students on these visits as well as provide students with a short tour of UCL on the first day of the course.

Duties and responsibilities

A variety of events are organised each week for these CLIE courses. The group size is 15-20 students per assistant. You will be required to meet students at CLIE, escort the group to the event (on foot, by bus or by tube, depending on location), accompany the group during the event, escort them back to CLIE if necessary (it’s not compulsory for students to return to CLIE). During the social programme, you should interact with students and encourage them to speak English as much as possible.

Summer English Course for International University Students

4 people needed.

Monday 4th August: Campus tour. 1:50pm (approx. 1.5 hours)

Thursday 7th August: Tower Bridge. 2:00pm (approx. 2 hours)

Monday 11th August: Boat trip to Greenwich. 1:15pm (approx. 3.5 hours)

Thursday 14th August: East End of London. 1:40pm (approx. 2 hours)

Friday 15th August: Kew Gardens. 1:30pm (approx. 3.5 hours)

Monday 18th August: Tate Britain Art Gallery. 1:45pm (approx. 2.5 hours)

Approximate total hours = 15 hours

Yamaguchi University Course

1 person needed. The timetable is still being finalised so below may change slightly:

Tues 26th Aug: Campus tour/welcome lunch/The Shard - 11:30am-4:30pm (5 hours)

Thurs 28th Aug: Science Museum - 2-4:30pm (2.5 hours)

Fri 29th Aug: Tower Bridge - 2-4:30pm (2.5 hours)

Mon 1st Sept: Boat trip to Greenwich - 1:30-5pm (3.5 hours)

Thurs 4th Sept: Bank of England Museum - 2-4:30pm (2.5 hours)

Approximate total hours = 16 hours

Skills and experience

  • Must have proficient English.
  • Must be a current UCL Student.
  • Previous similar (tour guide/events/open days) experience desirable)
