Role
The University of Edinburgh is currently offering a part-time opportunity for a student to join the Academic Support Librarians Team as a Student Library Champion – East Asian Languages. Academic Support Librarians collaborate with Schools and Colleges to address their library needs, promote resources and services, and help students build digital and information literacy skills for academic success. Within this role, you will actively develop user engagement with Library collections and services, including specialist resources and collections in the East Asian language area. You will raise awareness of these library resources through creating social media content such as videos, updating websites, creating posters and organising promotional events.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain experience in liaising with library staff and students to promote the East Asian collections, creating a variety of promotional materials and organising events.
You can expect to start work on the 21st July 2025 and work until the 7th September 2025. The successful student can expect to work between 14-21 hours per week (up to 15 hours per week as a Postgraduate Taught Student) on-campus, in the Main Library. During this position you will be paid £14.10 per hour, plus £2.55 per hour holiday pay. Payment is one month in arrears, meaning your first payment date (should this position start when expected) will be 28th August 2025.
Duties and responsibilities

- Exploring the potential for running student-led events using and promoting the library collections, (e.g., reading groups or film screenings);

- Reviewing and updating the existing library materials, to reflect the needs and interests of the East Asian language communities;
- Creating promotional materials, such as social media posts, blog posts, newsletter articles, induction leaflets, web guides, video tours of the collections in a East Asian language, and in English.
