Role

Unitemps, in collaboration with the Institute and Policing Department, is seeking one male and one female actor for a powerful VR project designed to raise awareness and change behavior concerning violence against women and girls. This is a vital, long-term initiative, and you'll be part of its impactful first stage

You'll participate in a single day of filming for a short but impactful scene. The narrative will feature:

  • A male actor following a female actor through Hanley Park and along the adjacent canal.  The male character will make a passing misogynistic comment.
  • The female character will convey her reaction, glancing over her shoulder as she walks back to a simulated flat within the University of Staffordshire's Ashley 2 Building.
  • The scene culminates with the female actor displaying relief, frustration, and unease upon entering the flat, followed by a startling knock at the door.

This film will be integrated into a VR program, initially shown to a test audience, then widely distributed to schools, colleges, and businesses, depending on demand. This project offers exciting opportunities for involvement in future filming stages.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Female Actor: Portray a woman walking through Hanley Park and along the canal, being followed. React to a misogynistic comment, conveying unease and checking over your shoulder. Display relief, frustration, and unease upon reaching the simulated flat, concluding with a startled reaction to a knock at the door.
  • Male Actor: Portray a man following the female actor, making a misogynistic comment when your paths cross, and continuing to walk past.

Skills and experience

We are looking for talented and committed individuals for these roles.

  • Applications are invited from all students.
  • Students with acting experience or those pursuing a relevant degree are preferred.
  • You must be available for filming on Thursday, July 11, 2025.Applicants must be willing to work at external locations (Hanley Park and canal) subject to appropriate risk assessments, as well as within the university's simulation suites.
