Unitemps are recruiting for two Research Assistant. This role is suitable for UCL Students Only. This role is for a June 23rd start date and has a projected end date of August 1st 2025. This is a part time role at 14.6 hours per week. Payment is set at £18.88 per hour + holiday pay. This role will be UCL hybrid working; with 1 day per week from the office and the rest from home.

The Data and Impact team is responsible for assessing the impact of UCL’s Access and Participation activity through research, evaluation, identifying trends, and the preparation of data for internal and external reporting across Access, Widening Participation, Student Funding and Student Success areas at UCL.

UCL’s Data & Impact team is recruiting two Research Assistants to support in our ongoing evaluation projects and research to inform our work.

The Research Assistants will be responsible for supporting with data collection, analysis and reporting using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Additionally, the post holders will support the Data & Impact team by performing desk research and literature review around key themes impacting our work.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare qualitative data from interviews and surveys, including checking transcripts and cleaning data
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources
  • Contribute to reports and presentations
  • Support with arranging and delivering interviews and focus group discussions
  • Synthesise information from desk research and literature review around key themes
  • Support the Senior Impact and Evaluation Officer (Access and Student Funding)/ Data & Impact Manager in any other tasks related to the delivery of Evaluation and Research Projects

*If required, the post holder may also be asked to assist with additional data management and evaluation tasks in the Data & Impact team.

Skills and experience

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

  • Qualifications commensurate with education to A Level or equivalent, including proficiency in English and mathematics -  Essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of quantitative and qualitative data management, including collection, handling and storage  - Essential
  • Experience of conducting literature reviews - Essential
  • Experience of conducting quantitative and/ or qualitative research - Essential
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a complex organisation - Desirable
  • Experience of using qualitative analysis software - Desirable
  • Familiarity with secondary- and tertiary-level education and a knowledge of UK higher education - Desirable
  • Familiarity with and an understanding of higher education widening participation and student success strategies - Desirable

  • The ability to communicate information in a variety of written formats, to high standards of accuracy and clarity - Essential
