Role
Our prestigious client are a specialist company operating in a niche engineering sector. They manufacture, fabricate, assemble, install, and test both small bore instrumentation tubing systems and larger pipe skid assemblies used for handling a wide range of hazardous pressurised gases. Their products and services support diverse industries including Electronics, Analytical, Metals, Emissions, Renewables, and many others.

They are currently seeking a Project Engineer / Manager to join their team. The role is open to applicants from a wide range of engineering disciplines due to the unique nature of the business. Prior experience in specific industry is not a pre requisite, what is important is to have the aptitude, attitude and ability to learn new skills and complement the existing skilled workforce and business work ethics.

This role will involve visits to customer sites to support quoting, installation, and handover. Site work is primarily within the UK, and while many visits will be completed within a working day, some projects may require overnight stays depending on the location and complexity of the work. All travel and accommodation expenses will be covered in line with company policy.
 
Working days and hours are Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.
Pay for this position is based on individual skills and experience, ranging from £24,000 to £52,000.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Handle customer enquiries and define the scope of work or supply
  • Prepare cost estimates and submit formal quotations
  • Process customer orders and arrange the purchase of equipment and materials
  • Oversee shop fabrication and preparation processes
  • Coordinate with customers throughout the project lifecycle
  • Liaise with and supervise the installation team
  • Manage associated project documentation including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Test Procedures, Bill of Materials etc
  • Ensure smooth handover on completion of projects
  • Prepare projects to handover for invoicing

Skills and experience
Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word & Excel
  • AutoCAD – P&ID drawings
  • Basic understanding of PLC systems and 24V control systems
  • Knowledge of Gases and their properties
  • Willingness to learn and develop in these areas

     
  • Engineering background (any discipline considered)
  • Practical, adaptable, and a quick learner
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Willing and able to learn about our industry and products
  • Comfortable working in technical environments including sectors such as Automotive, Research, Defence, Energy, Metals, Laboratories, Oil & Gas and more
  • Willing and able to travel as part of their role
  • Flexible in terms of working hours when site work requires it
