Role
Our prestigious client are looking to recruit for a medical receptionist to work as part of the busy administration team within the practice.
The Practice is committed to providing a high quality of service to patients through teamwork. They are fully computerised using the EMIS Web medical system.
They are looking for someone who has experience working with the public and in particular those who have worked in General Practice.
Working days are Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week.
Duties and responsibilities
- To ensure that reception duties are completed efficiently and adhere to the guidelines that are laid down by doctors and management.
- To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
- To complete the patient triage forms for patients who request this support.
- To offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
- Making appointments and completing triage forms
- Taking messages and dealing with them in the relevant manner.
- Making telephone calls as requested, including ordering ambulances.
- Assigning triage requests appropriately
- To ensure total confidentiality in that no information about patients, either medical or personal, is disclosed to persons other than those employed by or attached to the Practice for whom such information is relevant.
- Extraction of medical records for appointments, visits, clinics or as requested.
- Filing of medical records, letters, reports.
- Dealing with queries from the doctors and other staff.
Skills and experience
Desirable
- At least 12 months experience of working in a reception environment or with the general public.
- Receptionist qualification
- Experience of working in GP practice or NHS environment.
- A knowledge of medical terminology.
