Description

Role

To represent and promote the University of Leicester to prospective students, parents and teachers during the Open Days by representing your student society, group or sports team, giving demonstrations or performances and actively approaching and speaking with visitors.

Duties and responsibilities

Giving insight into your student society/group or team by offering performances, demonstrations or activities by your group/club and answering questions; creating a warm, welcoming environment by being friendly and approachable, and talking to visitors about your positive experiences at University of Leicester, its facilities and your course.

You will be based in our Student Life Fair in a marquee on Centenary Square on the day, or another appropriate space on campus, and given the opportunity to showcase your student group, society or club to prospective students and their families either at the stand in the Student Life Fair or by offering an interactive demonstration of your activity or performance in our small, dedicated performance space or elsewhere on campus depending on your requirements.   

Please note that you will be paid as individuals but we are interested in representatives from groups presenting or performing together. Initial enquiries should be made to recruitmentevents@le.ac.uk before you apply for this role. 

Skills and experience
·    Currently studying at the University of Leicester either as an undergraduate (including those who have just completed their final year and graduate summer 2025), or current postgraduate student.

·    Current member of a University of Leicester society, student group, or sports club with permission to represent them at this event. 
·    A positive attitude towards the University of Leicester, our facilities and courses
·    Friendly and approachable 
·    Excellent Customer service skills (experience of or an understanding of what excellent customer service is)
·    Ability to communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds 
·    Ability to work effectively in a team
·    Excellent time management skills (reliable and punctual)
·    Ability to engage with young people
·    Ability to deliver a society/club demonstration or performance as part of a group
·    Good presentation skills

Additional information

Application Closing Date: 9am on Wednesday 11th June

Start date:

•    w/c Monday 30 June – 30 minutes briefing session (virtual, via Teams)

•    Open Day - Saturday 5 July, shift, 9.45am – 3.15pm

Duration: 6 hours in total including briefing

Dress code: Please wear your society/club/group’s costumes, uniform, society T-shirt, etc. 

Please note: We are able to reimburse students’ travel expenses if travelling from outside of Leicester for the purposes of this shift. More details about the process to claim will be given to candidates after selection.

We will also be able to offer overnight accommodation for students who are selected but who no longer have accommodation in Leicester for events out of term time only. For enquiries, please contact recruitmentevents@le.ac.uk  

Those working on the day will also receive a voucher for a complimentary lunch worth £4.
