Role

LJMU is looking for a forward-thinking and approachable Physical Wellbeing Nutritionist to lead engaging, practical, and impactful nutrition initiatives across the student community. This role focuses on improving student wellbeing through education, lifestyle support, and access to real-life skills that encourage healthier choices—while also contributing to elite athlete support as a secondary element of the position.

Whether you're running cooking clubs, designing workshops, or guiding a student through their first balanced meal plan, you’ll be a key part of our mission to make wellbeing more accessible, inclusive, and empowering for everyone on campus.

You’ll also support our Performance Sport team by contributing to nutrition services for Sport Scholars and BUCS Focus Teams, giving you the opportunity to work at both grassroots and elite levels of student sport.

Duties and responsibilities

Student & Staff Wellbeing & Campus Engagement (Primary Focus)

  • Design and deliver engaging workshops and wellbeing campaigns around healthy eating and nutrition.
  • Run Cooking Clubs that offer hands-on, budget-friendly meal prep sessions.
  • Produce content and resources tailored to student life, including how-to guides, nutrition tips, and digital content supported by Content Creator Intern.
  • Support our biodiversity and sustainability edible garden project.
  • Collaborate with university departments and LJMU Wellbeing Team to integrate nutritional awareness across wellbeing programmes and expand into our Student Living environments.
  • Support health promotion campaigns that reflect the diverse needs of LJMU’s student & staff body.

Performance Nutrition & Athlete Support (Secondary Focus)

  • Support BUCS Focus Teams and Sport Scholars with tailored nutrition advice and plans.
  • Work closely with Strength & Conditioning and Performance Sport teams.

Internship Development

  • Support research and projects that add value to LJMU’s wellbeing and performance nutrition offer.
  • Work on our wider Liverpool City Community Programme, supporting our Children & Youth, Copperas Hill Summer Programme in collaboration with Liverpool School Sports Partnership and LivLife, the weight management organisation commissioned by Liverpool City Council.

Operations & Administration

  • Track consultations, event impact, and student engagement through data collection and reporting.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and contribute to resource development.
  • Maintain compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and university policy.
 

Skills and experience

  • Relevant degree in Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
  • SENr Graduate Registrant(or working towards)
  • Experience of delivering nutrition support preferably in a university or student-focused environment
  • Strong understanding of both wellbeing and performance-based nutrition
  • Experience in delivering group education, including food-prep workshops or seminars
  • Familiarity with the needs of diverse student populations and inclusive wellbeing approaches
  • Great communication, organisation, and collaboration skills
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, or evaluation of wellbeing interventions

Desirable

  • Experience working within BUCS or a university sport setting Sports Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
  • Relevant postgraduate degree in Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (or working towards)
  • SENr Practitioner (or close to completion)
 

WORKING HOURS: Flexible Working: This is a 35 hour per week role but may require work during evenings and occasional weekends depending on service needs.
