Are you passionate about cheerleading and ready to make a difference at LJMU? The role of Dance and/or Cheerleading Activator is an exciting opportunity to be part of our fast-growing sport and activity programme, helping to create a fun, social, and supportive environment for everyone — no matter their experience or ability level.
We’re committed to getting more students and staff involved in physical activity, and we’re looking for a Dance and/or Cheerleading Activator to help organise, coordinate, and lead our cheerleading sessions. You'll play a key role in making sure sessions are welcoming, energetic, and packed with positivity — helping everyone feel confident and included.

- Oversee the efficient and effective delivery of, and help grow participation in, the dance and cheerleading programme in partnership with the Physical Wellbeing Team.
- Plan and coach weekly dance and cheerleading classes at the LJMU Sport Building, creating a fun and welcoming environment for all abilities.
- Represent LJMU professionally by meeting, greeting, and welcoming participants to each session, ensuring everyone feels included and supported.
- Communicate regularly with the Wellbeing & Engagement Manager to report any issues, share feedback, and contribute ideas for improving the dance and cheerleading offer.
- Submit a short weekly report summarising session attendance, participant feedback, and any relevant information to help track and enhance programme delivery.
- Take responsibility for all dance and cheerleading equipment during sessions, ensuring it is used safely and appropriately.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all dance and cheerleading equipment, reporting any damages, losses, or needs for replacement.
Skills and experience
Possess a cheerleading/dance or equivalent coach qualification |
Willing to develop as a leader and practitioner, undergoing any qualifications and certifications offered |
Confidence organising groups of people to ensure the efficient and effective operation of all sessions. |
Ability to work collaboratively with others |
Willingness to support and participate in additional sessions for students, staff and when able external collaborative partners. |
Ability to motivate and inspire others |
Possess an understanding of relevant health and safety legislation, and the ability to exercise this in the workplace |
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including listening, questioning, and delivering effective feedback, as well as the ability to quickly build trust and rapport with customers. |
