Role
Our client is a local well known charity that is looking for a keen and enthusiastic individual to join their team. This is a brilliant chance to get hands-on experience in both web development and digital marketing within a lively and worthwhile charity setting. The successful candidate will play a key role website development and design and boosting their online presence and supporting our communications.
Duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Website Development & Maintenance:
- Helping with the design and lead on the build of the Charity website using WordPress.
- Putting in place and tweaking WordPress themes and plugins.
- Making sure the website is easy to use, looks good, and works well.
- Helping to update and look after website content.
- Sorting out basic website glitches.
Digital Marketing Support:
- Helping to come up with and carry out digital marketing plans.
- Supporting social media management across different platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
- Creating interesting and relevant stuff for social media.
- Helping with email marketing campaigns.
- Contributing to basic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) efforts.
Content Creation:
- Thinking up and developing creative ideas for the website, social media, and other online bits.
- Helping to write content (e.g., blog posts, social media updates, website text).
- Possibly helping to create visual content (e.g., basic graphics, photo editing).
General Team Support:
- Giving administrative and general help to the wider team when needed.
- Helping to get events ready and supporting them.
- Must be flexible and willing to get stuck into all areas of the business.
Skills and experience
- Clear experience with WordPress, including changing themes and managing plugins.
- A basic understanding of digital marketing ideas and social media platforms.
- Good writing and speaking skills.
- Creativity and a the ability to come up with engaging content ideas.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle tasks effectively.
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
- Must be flexible and willing to get stuck into all areas of the business.
- Must be able to get on with new people, including those who benefit from the charity, volunteers, and other important contacts.
- Must be willing to undergo and pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a barring check.
- Understanding and implementation of SEO
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva).
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp).
- Photography or video skills.
- An understanding of how charities work.

- Enthusiastic and proactive attitude.
- Strong work ethic and keen to learn.
- Excellent people skills.
- A real interest in what the charity does and wanting to make a positive difference.
