Role

We are looking for a PGR student who is an illustrator or graphic artist to support with the creation of a set of infographics illustrating the outcome of our Doctoral Values Project.

As part of the Doctoral Values Project the Doctoral College facilitated a number of in person and online workshops with PGR student across the University to draw out a set of PGR values which mattered to current Warwick PGRs. The next phase of the project will be to further define these values through our Festival of Postgraduate Research. Following on from this we would like a PGR from the community to visually illustrate the values though a series of graphics. This is where the role of the PGR graphic artist comes in. 

The final set of illustrations will be used in marketing and promotional materials for the Doctoral College. This includes but in not limited to our website, social media and other digital channels. They will need to be provided in a digital format.   

Final project should be completed by the beginning of July.

As part of your application you must provide examples of previous graphic illustrations you have completed. Graphic illustrations must be your own original work. Applications without a sample will not be considered. The application process will also include a short interview to be arranged in advance with the candidate. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • In consultation with the Doctoral College and PGR student partners, create high-quality graphics for digital and print media. The illustrated work will be used on websites, posters, social media posts, and other digital platforms
  • Use your creativity to interpret the Doctoral Values into fun and easy to engage with designs and graphics
  • Ensure accessibility of the visual work through alt-text descriptions of all of the graphics for screen readers 
  • Content created will be for the use of the University of Warwick Doctoral College to promote the Doctoral Values project
  • Have meetings with the Doctoral College team about the project brief and have ongoing meeting to discuss progress 
  • Provide regular updates to Doctoral College staff on the progress of the graphics

Skills and experience

  • Experience as a graphic artist, cartoonist or similar role
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong portfolio of demonstrating design skills and creativity
  • Excellent understanding of design principles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
