Role
Join us on the Continuous Module Dialogue evaluation project.
We are looking for 3 students to work with us on the evaluation of a key aspect of student voice at UCL – Continuous Module Dialogue (CMD).
Who we are:UCL Higher Education Development & Support (HEDS) Institute brings together UCL Arena and UCL Careers. In a sector-leading approach, we offer expertise to educators and prepare our students for their future careers to positively impact on student experience and student journey.
In collaboration with other support services, the HEDS Faculty Partnership Teams, offer coordinated support to enhance teaching and learning, employability, and skills development across the university. HEDS empowers our community to deliver excellence in education and graduate outcomes.
Duties and responsibilities
Purpose:
UCL has a wide range of platforms and initiatives to ensure students are able to engage with the institution and shape their education. However, recent NSS scores tell us that students don’t always feel like their feedback is acted on.
Through this project, we want to ensure that CMD is serving UCL students effectively, ensuring at they feel like their feedback is being acted on, and that their voices are heard and valued.
Area of work:
- Provide a student perspective on the student experience of CMD;
- Co-designing interview questions for UCL staff to discuss their experiences of CMD in their department;
- Co-design focus group questions for UCL students to discuss their experiences of CMD in their departments, and lead these focus groups;
- Analysis of qualitative data collected from interviews and focus groups;
- Writing up a student guide to CMD, as well as substantially contributing to a high-level report to senior education management on the current status of CMD, including identifying areas of excellence and areas for improvement.
- Help us ensure the HEDS team are working in partnership with students across their areas of work so that students are involved in decision making at an institutional level;
- Contribute to UCL’s reputation as leaders on student-staff partnership activity, which could include presenting at external conferences, writing case studies and participating in wider opportunities as they arise.
Skills and experience
What are we looking for?
- A UG or PGT student - Essential
- Experience of analysing qualitative data - Essential
- Experience of writing for different audiences - Essential
- Someone looking to make a difference to the student experience at UCL. - Essential
- Experience of leading focus groups or interviews with students and/or staff - Desirable.
- Interest or experience in comms e.g., creating video/audio content, writing for the web etc.- Desirable
