About the role:
This is a 12-week paid internship opportunity with Deeley, offered as part of the WMG Internship Programme. The role is ideal for a current student or recent graduate looking to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting while contributing to impactful sustainability projects within an established manufacturing business.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to assist in the analysis, calculation, and reporting of Scope 3 emissions. The role will also involve reviewing processes to enhance sustainability and supporting the company’s broader environmental objectives. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful sustainability initiatives while developing valuable skills in data collection, analysis, and roadmap development.

Location and Support
The internship is based at Deeley Group’s Head Office in Coventry (CV5 6UB), where you will work closely with their dedicated team, gaining first-hand experience in sustainability practices within a manufacturing business.
As part of the WMG Internship Programme, you will also benefit from weekly supervision and guidance from a WMG expert, ensuring you are fully supported throughout the duration of the project.

Duties and responsibilities
The internship will be focusing on three key areas:
1. Scope 3 Emissions
- Identify Scope 3 emissions sources within the company.
- Define boundaries for emissions measurement.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders for data collection (financial year 2024–2025).
- Calculate Scope 3 emissions using recognised methodologies.
2. Process Reviews and Additional Tasks
- Review company processes and initiatives, including Scope 1 and 2 emissions calculations, providing "fresh eyes" to identify potential improvements.
- Assist in the implementation of sustainable initiatives as required.
- Collect and report data on water, energy, emissions, effluent, and waste.
3. Analysis, Roadmap, and Sustainable Alternatives
- Analyse findings from Sections 1 and 2 to identify emissions hotspots and opportunities for reduction.
- Develop a 5–10-year roadmap projecting emissions reduction opportunities.
- Produce a technical report summarising all findings, including existing measures and initiatives for internal use and marketing purposes.
Skills and experience
Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Strong academic record with a focus on analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in data analysis & visualisation tools. (MS Office Suite)
Desirable criteria
- Familiarity with carbon accounting.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration abilities at all levels.
- Proven quantitative skills.
- Prior experience in sustainability through internships, research, or volunteer work.
- Experience with change management principles and organisational change.
- Ability to develop and contribute to long-term sustainability roadmaps.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and a desire for continuous learning.
