Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a large number of Open Day Student Helpers. This role is suitable for current UCL Students Only. This role is specifically for 2 days only (June 27th and June 28th) + 1 training date, exact details listed below. Payment is set at £14.79 per hour + holiday pay. This role will be fully campus based.

UCL’s Undergraduate Open Days are among the most significant events in our calendar, welcoming approximately 10,000 prospective students and their guests across both our Bloomsbury and East campuses. These events play a vital role in helping applicants and their families get a feel for life at UCL, explore our campuses, and learn more about our academic programmes and student experience.

With such a large number of visitors and a full schedule of talks, tours, and activities, the success of the day depends heavily on the support of our students. We are looking for current UCL students who are enthusiastic, approachable, and passionate about their university experience.

As a Open Day Student Helpers, you’ll play an important role in shaping the first impressions of our prospective students. Duties will include welcoming and directing visitors, supporting the delivery of scheduled activities and answering general questions about UCL life—from your experience of applying, to what it’s like living and studying at UCL and in London.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in events and public engagement, build your communication skills, and contribute to the wider UCL community. Open Day Dates

:Friday 27 June 08:30 – 16:00

Saturday 28 June 09:00 – 16:00

Training – Mandatory and paid

You must attend one of the virtual training sessions below in order to support at the Open Days. We’ll be tracking attendance, so please make sure you’re available for one of the following:

Session 1: Monday 23 June 10:00 – 11:00

Session 2: Wednesday 25 June 17:00 – 18:00

Duties and responsibilities

Students will be required to support with the following:
  • Signposting
  • Answering general questions about UCL and their own experience of being a student here
  • Event management - supporting in managing queues for sessions, directing visitors to their seats etc.

Skills and experience

Essential:
  • Currently enrolled as a UCL student (undergraduate or postgraduate)
  • Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic about representing UCL
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident engaging with a wide range of people, including prospective students, parents, and staff
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions effectively
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of the UCL campus and student experience (training will also be provided)
  • Willingness to be on your feet for extended periods and assist with event logistics as required
  • Committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and positive experience for all visitors

Desirable:

  • Previous experience of working at events, or in customer service or hospitality
  • Experience in supporting similar outreach/recruitment activities

Additional information
