This internship is an exciting opportunity for students passionate about the arts, community engagement, and project management and delivery. You will be working with the Programming and Participation team at artsdepot, a leading multi-purpose arts centre in North London, committed to providing high-quality and inclusive arts and cultural activities. We are looking for an enthusiastic intern to support the organisation and facilitation of our summer musical theatre course for children.
As an intern, you will build an understanding of the different elements of organisation and administration that go into building participatory arts projects and support with various tasks relevant to the delivery of the course. You will also gain hands-on experience supporting the delivery of the course and assisting members of the producing and creative team with facilitation.
Duties and responsibilities
- Collate Summer Camp participant information and maintain accurate records.
- Draft and send communications to summer camp participants.
- Support with logistical planning and coordination of the course.
- Assist in the facilitation of activities during the summer camp including providing pastoral support to participants.
- Engage with participants and their families to ensure a positive experience.
- Provide insights on program improvements based on feedback.
- Support with participant evaluation at the end of the course.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Able to demonstrate a passion for the arts or community engagement.
- Interest in program coordination, community engagement and project facilitation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable and able to demonstrate good timekeeping skills.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Proactive and enthusiastic to get involved.
Desirable:
- Studying in creative arts or a relevant field.
- Experience in program coordination, event planning, or community engagement.
- Experience of working with children/young people in any context.
- Knowledge of arts and cultural activities.
- Understanding of safeguarding children and young people.

In-person only at artsdepot (5 Nether Street, North Finchley, N12 0GA)

This internship is a perfect starting point for a student who is interested in pursuing a career in the arts, community engagement, or potentially teaching/youth work. We will introduce you to the basics of project management in an arts/community context and also enable you to gain direct experience supporting a professional creative and pastoral team.
You will be mentored by the Senior Creative Producer (Community) and will have the opportunity to meet other members of artsdepots’ team which will offer insights into different roles and aspects of working in a busy community focused arts centre. You will also be working alongside expert creative freelancers whom you will also have an opportunity to shadow and support.
Additional information
- As this internship involved working with children and young people it will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. You will be given relevant safeguarding training.
- This internship involves direct facilitation and hand-on tasks and so it will not be possible to offer this as a hybrid or remote experience.
