Description
Role
The university's hospitality department is recruiting a team of food and beverage assistants to help out over the summer period when Heriot-Watt hosts summers schools. This job entails serving and preparing food and beverages for customers, and keeping the units clean and presentable. The role holders will be tasked with cleaning tables and dishes for up to 1200 students, who will be dining at Central 3 times a day, 7 days a week. In this role you will be working as part of Campus Services, and must be available for the full duration of the contract, which is from June 2nd until August 29th 2025.
Duties and responsibilities
- Serve customers in an efficient and friendly manner.
- Keep all work areas to a high standard of cleanliness.
- Ensure health and safety advice is followed.
- Communicate well with other members of the catering team.
- Flexible with shifts, including evening and weekends.
Skills and experience
No minimum level of qualification or experience is required for this role. Any specific experience with events (serving buffets, drinks receptions etc) will be a bonus.
Strong communication skills are essential for this role.
Successful candidates will be asked to attain a Food Hygiene Certificate once in the role.

Dress code: You will need to supply your own uniform, which is a plain black shirt, black full length trousers and black non-slip shoes.
