Description

Role

Are you passionate about helping others? As a Local Area Ambassador, we are looking for people who can support 2+ year students take the big step from Living on Campus to finding accommodation in a local area. Focusing on 3 local areas: Coventry, Leamington Spa and Earlsdon, we would like to hear from students who are already living in these areas and are willing to share some information about where they live and what to expect.

As a Local Area Ambassador, you will lead Local Area tours for prospective students who have made arrangements to move into the neighbourhood in the coming academic year. You will meet a group of students on campus and show them the journey (via local transport) to your area, then embarking on key places of interest within that area, including domestic facilities such as shops, post collection points, places to eat & drink & explain typical examples of where they might be living. The tours will complete with a social interaction activity, such as a coffee/picnic in a place of choice.

Additionally, the Local Area Ambassadors will take a pro-active role in encouraging group members to share contact details and set up a supportive ‘local area’ chat group on What’s App/Microsoft Teams* (to be discussed further in Training & Info session.)

This role is open to all students and recent alumni - whether UK, EU or international; undergraduate or postgraduate provided that you are living in the area you would like to be a ambassador for.

You must be available to work shifts between w/c: Monday 2nd June – Friday 6 June 2025 and attend the compulsory Information & Training session on: Tuesday 6th May.

Please only apply if you’re able to work/attend these dates.

To apply, we’d like applicants to write a covering letter accompanying a CV answering the following questions:

  1. 1. Why would you like to be a local area ambassador? What is it that has interested you about this role?
  2. 2. What information do you think is valuable to tell a new student about living in a local area?
  3. 3. Tell us about something you are passionate about and how you have shared this passion with others. How do you think this could help you in giving tours to students (it does not have to be tour related, it can be anything)?

For shifts over 6 hours you will be given a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Additional Information:

Candidates selected for interview will be asked to prepare the following activity:

Please design a 5-minute presentation to introduce a group of students to your local area. There will be 2 minutes (in addition to the 5) at the end for explaining what you included and why. The presentation can take any format you would like (through pictures. Powerpoint, google maps anything you can think to use!)

Please feel free to get as creative as you would like for this portion of the interview- we’re keen to get to know you.
