Role

The Library, Careers and Enterprise Service are looking to recruit a team of enthusiastic current University of Salford students to become our Library, Careers & Enterprise Skills Ambassadors.

The focus of the roles will be to raise awareness of the Library, Careers and Enterprise Service through pro-active engagement with current students, graduates and staff.  You will direct service users towards our range of Library, Careers and Enterprise Services such as workshops, e-learning and one-to-one appointments and events.

You will also be an initial point of contact for all visitors to the Careers Hub in the Lady Hale building, answering questions and dealing with queries from students, staff, alumni, and employers. You will also provide support during events such as Welcome, Careers Fairs and Enterprise Start Up Schools.

As part of your role, you’ll develop a keen understanding of the Library, Careers and Enterprise Service offer and provide information to inspire others about getting started. You’ll provide a personable, relatable service for enquirers to understand what is on offer from the Library and the Careers and Enterprise Service.

Job Specification

You will be actively initiating conversations and engaging with students whilst roving and staffing campus wide stalls and events. This involves striking up conversation with students you don’t know, to tell them about our services and how we can support them. You will be required to meet student engagement targets on all your shifts.

Be responsible for staffing Careers and Enterprise Quick Query Drop-Ins – providing students with information on Academic Skills, Digital Skills, Numeracy, Careers or Enterprise topics (training will be provided for this).

Complete ad-hoc small tasks as and when required, these could include assisting with social media, printing, inputting data and preparing resources for a careers fair.
