Description
Role
This role involves collaborating with staff across the School and University to implement the School’s promotional and engagement plans. The postholder will operationalise initiatives designed to attract new students and position the School as a top choice for exceptional teaching and learning.
Duties and responsibilities
Events support
• Support the delivery of School recruitment events, including Open Days, Offer Holder Open Days, and Live Chats.
• Support widening participation, employability, and outreach activities.
• Provide supervision and guidance to administrative staff and students supporting recruitment events.
Student and Alumni Engagement
• Support the recruitment, selection, training, and management of Student Ambassadors within the School.
• Work with the University’s Alumni and Engagement Team to produce Alumni Newsletters and manage online Alumni groups.
• Support the development of student newsletters.
Website and Social Media Management
• Maintain and develop the School’s external education-related webpages, ensuring up-to-date, accurate, and engaging content.
• Provide advice and guidance to colleagues who wish to develop education-related content on departmental webpages using the Content Management System (CMS).
Promotion of the School
• Generate news items about the School’s education-related activities, achievements, and events for internal and external audiences, including contributing to School internal newsletters and events.
• Working with other relevant stakeholders, develop a social media content calendar for the School.
• Post content to the School’s social media channels to drive engagement with prospective, current, and past students, as well as external communities.
Skills and experience
- An honours degree or equivalent relevant professional experience (Essential)
- Mathematics and English GCSE grade 5 and above (A-C) (Essential)
- Experience in copywriting, editing, and proofreading to a high standard. (Essential)
- Experience planning and delivering successful events. (Essential)
- Demonstrated experience in managing social media platforms, including creating and scheduling content, and monitoring engagement. (Essential)
- Ability to quickly grasp complex information and convey it in an accessible way. (Essential)
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating a collaborative approach. (Essential)
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure. (Essential)
- Innovative, proactive, and creative in approach to tasks. (Essential)
- Collegiate with a willingness and ability to work as part of a team and contribute positively to a team ethos, supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge and expertise. (Essential)
- Confident in IT use and managing website content (Essential)
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for web design and maintenance. (Desirable)
Location
Hybrid – Gibbet Hill campus and working from home. Working pattern to be agreed with line manager.
