Role
City St George’s, University of London (City) are recruiting for excellent candidates to work for a set number of hours on a study investigating how LLM’s such as ChatGPT can be used to support the completion of biological experiments. Working at City St George’s University’s (based at the Clerkenwell campus), the candidates will have the opportunity to apply their supervisory skills to ensure the smooth running of the practical sessions.
Duties and responsibilities
The candidate will deliver this project with academic partners to ensure that key objectives are met, by carryout out:
- Supervise lab practical sessions, ensuring safety of study participants
- Advise participants if asked, following a pre-defined script of problem solving/advisory notes
- Ensure study participants record and save data/images as they progress through the experiments.
- Set-up and take down experimental set-ups each study day.
- Clean surfaces and equipment on each study day
- Prepare samples for experimental days if required
- Deliver an introduction to the lab practical sessions, articulating key objectives of the session and health and safety requirements (from a defined script).
Skills and experience
- BSc in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Science or a related science field.
- MSc or other Higher Degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Science or a related science field.
- Experience in wet lab biology practical work
- Experience of planning and conducting research projects
- Experience using microbiological techniques
- Logical, structured and evidence-based approach to research and evidencing milestones and deliverables.
- Resilient, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Enjoys responsibility, solving unexpected problems and challenging the status quo – with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Capable of independent learning / working.
- Good written and verbal English
