Role
Our prestigious client are Occupational Hygiene, Legionella Control and Health & Safety specialists based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Everything they do is driven by our belief that safety always comes first.

They have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join their growing and forward-thinking team. This position would be suitable for someone who is looking to begin their career in Occupational Hygiene. While no experience is required, previous knowledge of the role would be advantageous. A can-do attitude, an analytical mind and a desire to succeed are essential. All professional training will be provided.

 
Working days and hours for this position are Monday - Friday - 8:30am - 5:00pm. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To shadow and learn from consultants whilst they are undertaking Occupational Hygiene Services, including but not limited to; Occupational Exposure Monitoring, Workplace Noise, Indoor Air Quality, Breathing Air Quality, Local Exhaust Ventilation Testing, Hand Arm Vibration and Whole-Body Vibration.
  • To assist in providing clients with an efficient and professional service with respect to the specific areas of expertise.
  • To assist Consultants in getting kit ready to take to site, setting up site kit to perform Occupational Hygiene Tasks, completion of sample sheets and putting kit away following site visits.
  • Associate Consultants should use their office time to attempt to write reports under supervision, reading of standards, legislation, ACOPS, guidance and sampling methods.
  • Keeping the kit room and offices in a tidy state.
  • Attend BOHS training courses once probation period has ended.
  • To fully participate in the Company’s training policy and procedures, with an enthusiastic attitude to the preparation for and undertaking of relevant external examinations.
  • To continually improve the Company through the volunteering of ideas, methods and procedures to the Operations Director.
  • To report directly to the Operations Director.

Skills and experience

  • A full UK Driver’s License, clean license is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel around the UK & Europe with overnight stays.
  • Proficient in using IT including Excel, Microsoft Office, Word.
Essential Skills and Attributes
  • Keen and flexible to undertake substantial travel and able to commit to regular overnight stays across the UK and Internationally (fully expensed).
  • Car driver with full clean driving licence.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with a high standard of personal performance
  • Good communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, particularly with regard to report writing.
  • Flexible and reliable and great organisational skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to present information clearly, concisely and professionally.
