The Community Engagement team at RBL focus on developing partnerships with diverse urban communities with a view to highlighting the shared heritage across different communities of military service and sacrifice. Through raising awareness and encouraging debate and collaboration we will ensure RBLs continuing relevance to modern society and maintain its place as a well loved British institution in the future. In 2025 the UK and the world will come together to commemorate the 80th Anniversary since the end of the Second World War. Activity will take place around key dates as such Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) in May and Victory over Japan (VJ Day) in August 2025. In the UK the RBL alongside other key organisations will lead the nation in remembering the service and sacrifice of all those that defeated fascism across the globe in 1945. As part of the national plans, RBL will be working in partnership with a leading artist Mahtab Hussain to tour his bronze maquette which pays tribute to the 2.5 million strong Indian Army who fought during World War 2 across key locations in the UK from July 2025 until September 2026.
