Role

In this position, you will provide essential support for the annual review process, helping to compile, organise, and synthesise information across various research activities. Additionally, you will assist in crafting narrative reports that highlight the outcomes and impact of our work. This role requires excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

Annual Review Support:

  • Assist in the preparation of materials for the annual review, including collecting, organising, and analysing data from across departments or teams.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of information submitted for the annual review process.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to gather input, feedback, and relevant documentation.
  • Help produce reports and summaries for leadership, outlining key achievements and areas for improvement.

Narrative Writing Support:

  • Collaborate with research teams to craft clear, compelling narratives that effectively communicate research outputs, impacts, and achievements.
  • Work with stakeholders to collect qualitative and quantitative data to include in narratives.
  • Review and edit narrative content for clarity, consistency, and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Ensure all written reports and documents adhere to institutional style guidelines and branding standards.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  1. Strong writing skills, with experience in crafting reports or narratives.
  2. Excellent attention to detail, especially when organising complex information.
  3. Ability to synthesise large volumes of data into clear, concise, and engaging content.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data management tools.
  5. Experience with annual review processes or report preparation.
  6. Familiarity with institutional or academic writing styles.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of research impact and evaluation methodologies.

In addition to submitting a cover letter and a 250-word summary of a fictional research project (or one of our projects) aimed at addressing a global challenge (e.g., climate change, social justice, public health). Your summary should include:

  1. A brief overview of the research project, including its goals and key activities.
  2. The impact of the project, focusing on the outcomes and how it has contributed to solving the challenge.
  3. A short narrative on how the project is communicated to non-academic audiences (e.g., policy briefs, media coverage, community engagement).
