The Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) is a vibrant community dedicated to advancing learning and teaching excellence. Our inclusive community welcomes students, academic staff, and professional services staff who share a commitment to educational enhancement.

This role is pivotal to assisting the development of WIHEA’s impact & engagement strategy, with a particular focus on developing the provision and engagement of WIHEA’s Membership Community.  This includes reaching out and engaging with staff and students across the institution and beyond both nationally and internationally.  A key responsibility of this role is for planning and delivering all internal and external communications, which aim to both support WIHEA Student Fellows, Alumni and Members to engage in a range of opportunities but to also help them disseminate their teaching excellence achievements, project outcomes and outputs, through reaching and engaging with the wider institution and HE Sector.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Responsible for planning, collating/recording, maintaining and reporting on impact & engagement (KPI) data (including event attendance, engagement activities and impact data) and that it is compliant with GDPR and the University’s retention policy.

2. To manage the continual development of WIHEA Membership and WIHEA Connect, which will include:

  • Record, monitor and report on all membership data.
  • Organise and carry out interviews/surveys/group discussions with Members to obtain information and views that can help to identify and develop new initiatives to grow and enhance the engagement and improve the provision and impact of membership.
  • This role has a particular focus on growing/enhancing the Internal and External Staff Membership (including national and international) but will also assist with developing Student Membership and engagement.
  • Plan and create content for all forms of communication with members.
  • Respond to individual membership requests/queries received. 
  • Curate a diverse range of resources, activities and events to specifically share via WIHEA Connect pages (the communities outward facing pages and main space for Members) but to also assist with any collaborative work on shared resources and the development of the Education Portal.

3. Maintain and develop all WIHEA Web Pages: (including structure, content and accessibility)

  • Create web pages, content and registration forms for events
  • Update the events calendar
  • Interview Fellows/Alumni/Members to write news articles on individual and collective achievements. 
  • Create and maintain Project and Learning Circle pages and case studies. Report on their progress and outputs.
  • Manage and upload learning & teaching resources.
  • Create and maintain Fellow & Alumni information and profiles.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, timely, relevant and accessible to all.

4. Write news articles, event announcements and co-ordinate the allocation of WIHEA content to the most relevant dissemination tool (Education Bulletin, Insite and/or Fellow/Alumni updates) to meet copy deadlines.

5. Attend in person and online events and be responsible for all event photography, filming/editing and uploading of footage/pictures to web pages. Assist team with meet and greet and general event delivery.

6. Responsible for planning and delivering communication to support all of WIHEA’s activities and dissemination:

  • Plan WIHEA’s social media campaigns and regularly post and share content/news for the WIHEA community.
  • Responsible for seeking internal and external opportunities to share and disseminate the work of the WIHEA community and outputs from Learning Circles & Projects.
  • Liaise with internal departments to arrange for content to be shared via a range of medias, including University of Warwick social media, central/departmental newsletters, plasma screens, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a range of communication tools and resources, including and production of flyers, pull-up banners, short videos, blogs etc. 
  • Attend appropriate conferences and events to promote opportunities to engage with WIHEA.

7. Assist with the production of WIHEA’s annual report and ensure production deadlines are met. Responsible for; co-ordinating content from other team members and the wider WIHEA community, collating data and photographs/pictures, preparing infographs and assisting with proof reading.  

8. Assist with administrative tasks to support the team where required during key activities such as Fellows Recruitment & Induction, Funding Calls and large events.

 

Skills and experience

Previous Experience:

  • Extensive experience of working in a communications role in a large or complex organisation.
  • Experienced in multichannel management and working with written, audio and visual content creation (marketing, blogging, social media channels, filming and editing video footage, creating online articles, newsletters and case studies etc.).
  • Experienced in using a range of media and IT equipment and software including video’s, camera’s, media/editing software, newsletter, website and learning platform software.  As a minimum it is essential to have experience of using at least one of the following: SiteBuilder, Canva and/or Azorus software and highly desirable to have experience of all three.
  • Experience of gathering, recording, analysing and evaluating data and/or KPI’s and creating reports.
  • Experience of building trust and effective working relationships with individuals from across a wide range of stakeholder groups.
  • Experience of either working or studying in a HE context.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong project and time management skills and an ability to manage priorities.
  • A high level of technical skills and ability to learn quickly and use a range of different software.
  • An ability to recognise opportunities and think creatively, can be given a brief and come up with ideas and suggestions of how to deliver it and adapt tone of voice and content type for different audiences and purposes.
  • Ability to understand a range of higher education matters and demonstrable copywriting skills in creating and curating compelling accurate content.
  • Understanding of communications principles, branding and online corporate identity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, confident and persuasive communicator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Location
Hybrid Working. Minimum of one full day worked on campus (ideally a Tuesday) and also must be available to attend events (which are usually held on Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday’s). The remaining hours can be worked on campus or from home.
