Our prestigious client is one of Staffordshire and Cheshires leading providers of kid’s holiday camps. They are working with schools and organisations to deliver the government funded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. The funding enables schools and organisations to deliver free holiday provision, including food and enriching activities to disadvantaged children in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
The hours are 35-40 per week and you MUST be available for a training day on the following dates, April 14th – 25th and July 21st – August 29th.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check
Duties and responsibilities
- Deliver/assist with sport and activity sessions to children aged 4-13.
- Positively engage with young people through sport and play.
- Work with young people aged 4 upwards in a safe and professional manner.
- Deliver a planned programme of activity with the support of young leaders and volunteers.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and family members.
- Eat lunch with young people enabling them to model your good behaviour.
- Engage in regular communication, supervision, and support with your line manager.
- Reflect upon and develop your practice throughout the duration of the provision.
- Ensure the Holiday provision is delivered in line with operating procedures and standards including the safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities policies.
- Be a reliable and flexible member of the Holiday team.
Skills and experience
- Experience of working directly with children or young people.
- Experience in sport/youth work/play/education or as part of a holiday provision (this could be as a volunteer).
- Experience of delivering a varied programme of activities (inclusive of learning outcomes) which are inclusive, enjoyable, and enriching for young people.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Knowledge of how to engage with young people, and awareness of the issues facing them.
- Ability to deliver a wide range of sports activities that can engage 4-13 years old.
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, parents, and carers.
- Ability to report and deal with potential challenging behaviour, in line with our behaviour policy.
- Knowledge of health and safety, data protection and safeguarding best practice and how these relate to the members.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
