Role
The WBS Undergraduate CareersPlus and Undergraduate Programme Teams provide a specialised services solely for Undergraduate (UG) Warwick Business School students. We are looking for a Year Abroad Communications & Engagement Ambassador to support our UG service and to shape our online and face to face experience.
Duties and responsibilities
- Advocate experiences abroad – both study and work
- Coordinate, lead and facilitate on and offline events to support and promote the Year Abroad community
- Promote different campaigns/initiatives e.g. lecture shout-outs
- Analyse current student expectations through means of network/surveys, provide feedback to the CareersPlus and Programme teams in order to contribute to the content and support the development of careers and year abroad programme resource pages on my.wbs
- Support the team with student year abroad pop-up sessions, workshops and events during term time and signpost internal career services
- Support year abroad specific information sessions throughout the year i.e. contribute to student panels and/or student Q&A sessions, support with planning and delivery of annual International Festival
- Work collaboratively with the Communications & Engagement and Work Experience & Placements Ambassadors to deliver holistic campaigns throughout the year on and offline
- Explore ideas/systems for recording and capturing seasonal internship information for undergraduate students
- Manage a portfolio of voluntary Year Abroad Ambassadors, including organising voluntary attendance at year abroad informational and promotional events
- Work with the CareersPlus and Placement and Internship teams to develop a work experience culture across the business school, supporting the development of international experiences
- Monitor social media channels – specifically WBS UG Careers International Linkedin group
- Provide student feedback on modular framework and programme delivery to Undergraduate Programme team, including potentially attending key forum and committee meetings to deliver feedback
- To engage with WBS academics/lecturers across all WBS modules and present in lectures/seminars your own learned experience the importance of undertaking work experience (e.g. a placement year/internship) and how these can impact specific employability skills and how the learning outcomes from these modules are applicable to real-world employment practice
Skills and experience
Essential
- WBS Final Year Student for the 2025-26 academic year
- Completed a year abroad
- Prepared to work up to 5 hours a week for this role from September to May (hours are flexible and there is potential for this to increase to 5 hours a week)
- Experience in managing social media accounts and increasing social media followers
- Confident in presenting to a large group of people
- Previous experience in managing social media account(s) and content creation
Desirable
- Took part in both work and study as part of your year abroad
- Experience in creating video blogs or Instagram takeovers
- Previous experience in marketing/social media account roles
- Experience in digital and physical communications
Location
Combination of working from home and on campus (must be in the UK)
